General Information about COVID-19

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It primarily affects the respiratory system, causing symptoms ranging from mild to severe, especially in older adults and those with pre-existing health conditions.

Recommendations to Prevent Transmission

• Vaccination: Get vaccinated when available.
• Social Distancing: Maintain at least 1 meter distance from others.
• Mask Wearing: Wear masks in places where physical distancing is not possible.
• Hand Hygiene: Wash hands frequently with soap and water or use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
• Ventilation: Prefer open and well-ventilated spaces.
• Respiratory Etiquette: Cover your mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing.
• Isolation: Stay home and isolate if you feel unwell until recovery.

Common Symptoms

• Most Common: Fever, cough, fatigue, loss of taste or smell.
• Less Common: Sore throat, headache, muscle aches, diarrhea, skin rash, red or irritated eyes.
• Severe: Difficulty breathing, loss of speech or mobility, chest pain.
